Villa Tokay offers private villas with private pools and rooms without private pools, set within tropical gardens. The resort provides experiences such as poolside floating breakfasts, massages, and snorkeling. Complimentary services with direct booking include in-villa breakfast, bikes, snorkeling gear, and Gili Air Harbour pickup. The on-site restaurant, KAI, serves Indonesian and Mediterranean cuisine.

Exceptional stay at Villa Tokay. The staff goes above and beyond— handling every request seamlessly, making the entire experience effortless. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and being able to cycle around the island added a unique charm to the stay. A special highlight for the kids was the “extra guest,” Harry the turtle, which made it even more memorable. Highly recommended for a stress-free, premium getaway.

Fantastic place to stay to chill, relax and snorkel with the sea turtles. The Tide rooms are simply great. You get a private pool and lots of space outside. Be wary for those who haven’t been to SE Asia before though as the toilet and shower are outside (not flushing and a septic tank) and you do get lots of millipedes on the floors. It’s a very special unspoilt island so what do you expect! We tried the 7 course tasting menu with wine flight. The food was fantastic and really creative and v v good value. The wine flight not so great but remember all wine out here is super expensive so it’s not a wine flight like in Europe or the US. We would go again in a heartbeat and encourage our more adventurous friends to come too but not for 90% of people.

Firstly, let me preface this review by acknowledging that Villa Tokay is not without its charms and has clearly been enjoyed by many travellers. For this reason I am awarding 3 stars, though for my personal experience, it would only receive 2. |It’s a small resort and the setting and gardens are very nice. However the pool is very small, (approximately 3 by 6.5 meters) so it doesn’t take much for it to feel crowded if several guest are using it at the same time. |The real disappointment was the room. It was quite small and furnished with a small wardrobe and a luggage rack. There is additional storage in drawers under the bed, but no bureau or dressing table, so no surface area to put anything . There is a desk outside the room in a balcony area that is not lockable, so useless for putting anything of value. There is a tiny shelf each side of the bed, only big enough for a mobile phone and a glass of water, not for a book or magazine. There is also an upstairs balcony, but it didn’t have a pleasant view so was not conducive to sitting there for drinks or breakfast in my opinion. I’m not an interior decorator, but to me the polished concrete floor didn’t match the tropical themed decor and made the room feel like a cell. |The bathroom was dark and airless, with only an exhaust fan for ventilation and once again, very few places to put anything. The real surprise was when I went to shave and discovered that the bathroom vanity basin only had cold water. |When I got back to my room at 4pm after a snorkelling tour, not only had my room not been serviced, my breakfast dishes had not been collected. |I paid AUS $320 per night and was extremely disappointed. I definitely wouldn’t stay at Villa Tokay again.

We just checked out and were a bit disappointed with our stay here. The styling of the hotel is beautiful but, given that they market themselves as the luxury resort on gili air, the rest of the experience was quite underwhelming in comparison with all the other hotels we have stayed in during our 3 week stay in Indonesia. We stayed in the sunset room which was probably a mistake as it is quite basic and does not include a private pool or a nice view- all of the marketing you see is of the private villas so bear that in mind when booking. The shared pool we had access to is small but lovely- however there were lots of staff hanging around chatting the whole time and loud construction all around the pool for the duration of our stay, so it wasn’t very peaceful. The door to our room also didn’t properly close so we had to ask the reception to lock it for us each time we left- which they did happily, but again just slightly annoying. More generally, the breakfast choice was very limited and basic. They also charged us extra for an additional coffee (you are only allowed one) which I have never seen in a luxury hotel. Whilst the staff were very friendly and helpful, the service felt reactive and not very personable. Perhaps this would have been different if we stayed in one of the villas (we were in the cheap room) but I think at the relative price point for other accommodations on the island there are better options.

I am a bit conflicted here: the place is gorgeous, very well maintained and visually stunning. The design of the Leaf Villa, its architecture and the way it was built is amazing and impressive. Nevertheless, at this price point, I am left with some disappointment due to a lack of consistent and great service and very average food offerings. - The AC in the bedroom did not manage to cool the entire room. The hotel provided fans that sort of did the job at night, but during the day staff measured 29C in the room despite the AC running at "Super speed" - On the other side, the private pool was very cold. Luckily the main pool was lovely - Breakfast offering is very limited and similar to other (cheaper) hotels providing no distinction in quality - Our dinner was not great: steak and lamb came out raw on the inside other than medium rare as ordered. The steak was cold. We sent it all to be done properly. Stil, taste was just so-so. Prices are too high for what is provided. On the plus side: The team is lovely, they were fast in sending room service ice or anything we needed. The transfer from the mainland and to the airport were great. Overall, at that price level, I had higher expectations.

The customer service is exceptional, the place is beautiful and somewhat secluded (which is great for a couple trying to relax). It is not noisy, not super crowded, yet close enough that you can bike everywhere. Bikes were provided, breakfast was included and laundry and massage services offered. As far as breakfast goes there’s not a lot of options, we ended up eating same thing every day, although they tried to accommodate requests. No room service available from their restaurant- you’d have to walk there for lunch and dinner. The croissants were not the greatest. The room we stayed in had a slight inconvenience in that the neighboring rooms were under construction/remodeling and somewhat noisy the first days we arrived. They kindly offered a massage for the inconvenience but what got to us what the strong paint smell that came the second day. They did not offer to change our room, but sprayed something to mask the smell. Thankfully it was only one day and we spent most of it out. Has a nice working A/C- much needed. The shower and toilet are outside the room. They provided bug repellent and aloe Vera, and snorkeling masks. Use the bug repellent! The aloe Vera will come in handy. The masks we didn’t really like so we rented ones at the beach.

Our stay at Tokay was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The hotel is aesthetically very beautiful and with great attention to detail. It is located in a quieter area of the island but just a 2-minute walk from the beach and 10 minutes from the main street. Our “room” was extremely spacious and comfortable, including a private pool, a kitchen with an outdoor table (where breakfast was served) and a relaxation area with sofas and beanbags on the upper floor (for our exclusive use). The staff were extremely attentive and incredibly kind, always aware of our needs and available to help with any additional services or questions. The hotel uses a WhatsApp communication system, so you only need to send a message to request any type of service and you get a real-time response. We read some reviews about the hotel and honestly, we had absolutely nothing negative to mention. There is a spa service (which we used), bicycles available at any time for guests, and an excellent restaurant. Our days at Tokay were excellent. The ideal place to rest and relax in the middle of the island.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for four nights on our honeymoon. Villa Today is by far the nicest hotel we have ever visited. The villa we stayed in was called the leaf and was outstanding. The design of the villa was beautiful and had all you could ask for and more. The grounds of the hotel are truly beautiful and we enjoyed all the areas. The spa treatments that we had were out of this world best massage ever , so good in fact we had two. The food was sublime and had a good selection. The service was the highlight for us the staff so accommodating and helpful nothing was ever too much . They help arrange every aspect of our stay on Gili Air. We also enjoyed having a house cat that visited us most days, Harry the tortoise was super cool and there were lots of gekos and frog 🐸. We were sad to leave and will visit again for sure. Truly beautiful and unique boutique hotel. The staff are the best you should treat yourself and go.
