Such a great spot! It's a few minutes walk to the best beach on Gilli Air and the best dive crew at Manta Dive. The air conditioning is 10/10, the bed is comfy and the pool is refreshing. The staff are lovely too!

Room is ok. Not bad if you don’t have high expectations. Hot water shower. Comfy bed. Location is good too. Even though it’s not beach front , only few mins walk to the beach. And a main street nearby with many shops n restaurants.

Overall, the stay was fine. The bedroom was clean and tidy. However, the bathroom definitely needs a renovation. It was outdated and not very clean and no warm water, which took away from the overall experience.

Lovely clean and quiet room. I loved the private court yard, it felt like our little home in the wonderful Gili air. You must stay here as it’s just down the street from the main walking street. Lovely and helpful staff, really good cleaners too! Thank you

Long term staying here at Scallywags mango. Perfect room for traveling worker, good internet, long bench for PC and screen. Very cozy and comfortable room with cool outside bathroom and a little garden out front. Only 7 million (410 euros) / month so happy about the price as well.

Great location walking distance to the Main Street and boat port. We had to wait to check in though about half an hour as it was unstaffed. We had to contact them through WhatsApp which was hard with no wifi. Lucky our other hotel had dropped us and could get in touch with them. Rooms were nice and basic tea and coffee and fridge. Nice pool that was shaded with beautiful mango tree.

We stayed 3 nights at the Mango Retreat with our 3 children, aged 7, 7 and 9. Over the years, we’ve found it can be pretty hard in some countries finding hotels (or similar) with rooms that can accommodate a family of 5. The Mango Retreat consists of a small number of individual twin or double rooms surrounding a small pool. Each ‘room’ is hidden behind a wooden fence and gate with a small courtyard area outside the room. This means that you can sit outside your room with a little privacy from the pool area. For our family, we were able to have 2 adjacent rooms, each of which had their own (lockable) gates onto the pool area, but which also had a further interconnecting gate between each room’s courtyard. This meant that we and our children could get to each other’s rooms, whilst also being able to look the gates fronting on to the pool to ensure that our children were safe and secure. This may not have worked for younger children, but it was ideal for us.||||The Mango Retreat is a great example of how you can make somewhere which is not overly luxurious (but certainly not basic, either) feel really special. We compared this with a place we stayed at in St. Lucia about 6 years ago which probably thought it was similarly special. Unlike the place in St. Lucia, the Mango Retreat creates that ‘boutique’ feel, making the most of what it has, whilst trying not to be more than it is. Our bedroom area was tastefully decorated. The outdoor shower area was well thought out and felt like something novel and different, without being cliched and/or impractical.||||Breakfast is offered at Scallywags’ nearby Beach Club. It’s about a 10 minute walk which, with 3 young hungry children and soaring temperatures, felt like a bit of a trek, but the staff there are friendly and welcoming and the food options are pretty good. Having breakfast on site would have been great, but you can’t have everything and it didn’t hamper our overall experience.||||Overall, then, the Mango Retreat worked well for us and we’d recommend to other families staying on Gili Air.
