Tabanan Immigration Office strengthens village-level monitoring of foreign nationals

Bali immigration authorities are increasing their monitoring of foreign nationals at the village level in Tabanan. The Tabanan Immigration Office has designated Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba villages in Kediri District as Immigration Development Villages. This initiative aims to address potential immigration vulnerabilities in these areas, where many foreign nationals reside or conduct activities. Under this program, Immigration Village Officers will make weekly visits to coordinate with village officials and provide information on immigration regulations. Residents are encouraged to report any information about foreign nationals or activities that may require immigration attention. This village-based approach is intended to shorten the information flow between communities and immigration authorities, allowing for quicker verification and resolution of potential issues. The program also seeks to prevent violations such as misuse of residence permits and criminal activities, including human trafficking. Due to limited personnel, the program cannot yet be expanded to all villages within the Tabanan Immigration Office’s jurisdiction, but the goal is to gradually assign at least one Immigration Village Officer to every village. Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba are currently serving as pilot locations for this initiative.
