Increased police patrols safeguard tourists in Bali’s busiest vacation resorts

Tourists in Bali may notice an increase in police patrols, which is part of Bali’s proactive crime prevention efforts, especially during the peak travel season and school holidays. For example, a team of 35 officers led by North Kuta Police Chief, Commissioner Ketut Sukadana, conducted patrols across the North Kuta area, including Canggu, Seminyak, and Seseh. These patrols focused on locations like nightclubs, gas stations, ATMs, convenience stores, villa complexes, and residential areas. Officers also engaged with local residents, tourists, Pecalang, and villa security guards to address concerns and suspicious activities. The public is encouraged to report disturbances to public order via the 110 call center, which offers English-speaking responders. Police also reminded online motorcycle taxi drivers about helmet use, passenger limits, vehicle registration, and traffic rules. Commissioner Sukadana stated these patrols are preventative measures against crimes such as motorcycle theft, pickpocketing, and snatch theft, and will be conducted regularly, particularly on Saturday nights, to ensure safety in the North Kuta area. This initiative aligns with the Indonesian Minister of Tourism’s Circular Letter Number SE/3/HK.01.03/MP/2026 concerning safe tourism activities during the 2026 school holidays, with province-wide coordination efforts led by the Head of the Bali Tourism Office, Wayan Sumarajaya.
