Badung Regency cancels tourism promotion mission to Japan

Badung Regency has canceled its planned October 2026 tourism promotion mission to Fujisawa, Japan. The mission, which had a budgeted expenditure of Rp 900 million from the Badung Regional Budget for 2026, was called off due to various impediments. According to A.A. Putri Mas Agung, Head of the Badung Regency Tourism Service, a technical and administrative review revealed unfulfilled preliminary requirements. These included the need for at least 30 days to process formal permission PDLN for an overseas mission, which involves approvals from leadership, the Badung Regent, the Governor of Bali, and processing through the Ministry of Home Affairs and State Secretariat, as well as obtaining 'blue passports' for civil servants. Obstacles also arose in collaboration with Japanese counterparts, as a draft Memorandum of Understanding was still under discussion, and a formal invitation for the festival in Fujisawa had not been received. Furthermore, the Badung Tourism Service faced difficulties in gathering tourism industry stakeholders, such as hoteliers, travel agents, and attraction operators, to participate in the business-to-business B2B sales mission. Putri Mas stated that proceeding with limited preparations would threaten the optimal use of the budgeted funds, leading to the decision to cancel the mission for 2026.

AirNav Indonesia and Boeing collaborate to optimize operations at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport

AirNav Indonesia and The Boeing Company have signed a Letter of Intent LOI to study ways to optimize aircraft movement operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The LOI was signed on September 15, 2026, by AirNav Indonesia’s President Director, Capt. Avirianto Suratno, and Boeing Indonesia Managing Director Indra Duivenvoorde. The study aims to identify opportunities to reduce ground-level aircraft movement congestion and increase runway utilization capacity. This analysis will involve mapping current operational conditions and testing them through modeling using the Total Airspace and Airport Modeler TAAM. The initial stage includes operational modeling with a TAAM Baseline Model representing current operations, utilizing a 24-hour flight schedule and encompassing both “east flow” and “west flow” configurations. AirNav Indonesia and Boeing will also conduct on-site observations with Subject Matter Experts. After validating the baseline model, both parties will develop and test alternatives to improve operations, addressing layout, ground movement procedures, taxiway and aircraft parking area use, and movement sequencing and coordination. Boeing is expected to model up to three scenarios, incorporating projected traffic growth. This collaboration combines Boeing’s global expertise with AirNav Indonesia’s operational experience to develop data-driven methods for improving traffic flow and runway utilization, supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable aviation in Bali.
