Bali's chilly night temperatures to persist until August

The Meteorology, Climate and Geophysical Agency BMKG reports that Bali's unusually cool nights, alternating with hot days, are expected to continue until mid-August. This is considered a normal seasonal cycle during the dry season, which typically peaks in August. Brian Eko Permadi, a weather forecaster at the Denpasar BMKG Office, stated that the cold period usually occurs from June to August. Weather observations at the Negara Climatology Station in Jembrana Regency recorded a minimum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius at night, with expectations for even lower temperatures in the Bali highlands. The BMKG also noted that temperatures could drop further with clear, cloudless skies. The absolute minimum temperature ever recorded in Bali was 16 degrees Celsius at the Kahang-Kahang Climatology Station in Karangasem Regency. This year, the cold weather phenomenon arrived slightly earlier, starting in late May instead of June. Three factors contribute to the cooler air: lack of cloud cover during the dry season, the sun's position in the northern hemisphere, and the active Australian Monsoon bringing cold, dry air. The coldest temperatures typically occur between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The BMKG advises tourism operators and fishermen to maintain health, consume nutritious food, get enough rest, take vitamins, and wear warm clothing at night.
